State funding of nearly $870,000 has been approved for various projects across the 28th District, according to Representative Rob Mercuri. The funding was obtained through the Gaming Economic Development and Tourism Fund (GEDTF) Program, which aims to promote development in Allegheny County.

In Richland Township, the North Hills Council of Governments will receive $200,000 to install an ADA playground and an ADA accessible fire pit at the newly renovated barn in Richland Community Park. Additionally, the Richland Township Municipal Authority will be granted $350,000 to replace the Chessrown Ave and Community Center Drive waterlines, which have experienced frequent breaks due to their age.

Hampton Township will benefit from $118,000 in funding, which will be used to enhance the Firefighter Rehab program of the Shaler-Hampton EMS. This program supports nine fire departments and aims to prevent cardiac arrest from exertion, a leading cause of responder death at fire scenes.

The West Deer Township Fire Company #3 West Deer Fire Station in West Deer Township will receive $200,000 to make upgrades and expand the existing parking area.

Representative Mercuri emphasized the importance of investing in these projects to protect and improve the lives of the citizens. He stated, "The funding going to these projects will go a long way in ensuring we are keeping our communities safe, as well as accessible for all."

The 28th Legislative District, located in Allegheny County, includes parts of Hampton Township, Marshall Township, Pine Township, Richland Township, Pine Townships, and Bradford Borough.

This funding is a positive step towards improving infrastructure, community facilities, and public safety in the 28th District. It will contribute to the overall well-being and accessibility of the communities involved.
